LIBRARY READING CONTEST

The reading contest is a competition for K-5th grade which gets underway during the month of November. The competition culminates with an ice-cream party at the end of the year for students who read three or more books and submit book reports to a designated bin in the library. The first, second, and third place winners, determined by the number of pages they read, will receive gift certificates valued at $20, $15 and $10 respectively. The two book report forms, one for Kinder and 1st and the other for 2nd - 5th grades, can be found in the library. A book report from the classroom can be duplicated for the competition but the PTA reports need to be submitted.
Those in Kinder and 1st grade can draw a picture depicting the book if they aren't comfortable writing a few sentences about the book. A record of each participant's progress is posted, including the number of books read and a running total of the number of pages. It is so rewarding for the kids to see their lists grow and grow!
