SCHOOL SAVINGS PROGRAM

  Several years ago, Washington Mutual Bank instituted a School Savings  program at Horace Mann.  This program allows our children to open an account through our school with an initial deposit of as little as 25c.  Children are given a passbook and tracking sheet which records their deposits and prizes which they receive after every three deposits.  "Bank" days are every Tuesday during lunch break during which parent "tellers" handle the transactions.  Not only has Washington Mutual generously underwritten this program which educates children about the value of money but they will give Horace Mann $1.00 for every account that is opened either at school during bank days or at our local branch on Wilshire and La Cienega.

Children wishing to open an account can find applications in the office.  These forms however need to completed by a parent and social security number must be included in order to process the the account.  For those who already have accounts but can't find their banking envelopes, another will be provided during bank day.
